ANGELO BERNACCHI GREENHOUSES was started in the year 1906 by an Italian immigrant named Angelo Bernacchi, who came to this country alone at the age of fifteen.

Angelo’s final destination in that year was La Porte, Indiana, where he started business with a push cart built by W. C. Wegner & Sons Blacksmith Shop located on Monroe Street. This blacksmith shop has since been torn down. Angelo used this cart to sell bananas on the streets of LaPorte and there is an exact replica (pictured above, with Angela Bernacchi-Prast, granddaughter, and Bart Bernacchi, youngest son of Angelo Bernacchi) of the push cart built by his son, Bart Bernacchi, on display in Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouses retail flower shop. Angelo and his wife, Enis, reared seven sons, one engaged in the business today along with four of the third and fourth generation taking part in daily operations.

Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouses now encompasses over eight acres under cover at two locations: one at Kingsbury Industrial Park and the main location at 1010 Fox Street, La Porte, Indiana. Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouses services retail outlets within a three hundred mile radius with the finest quality foliage, bedding, and blooming plants.

Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouses operate one of the finest and most complete retail floral shops in the Midwest and is known for quality products and service.
