Memories
Wine Press – Vintage (approximately) 1915
This is a wine press that has special memories to us. Angelo and Ennis Bernacchi, our father and mother had seven sons during a span of twelve years. We all experience the joys of making home-made wine every Octoberwhen the California “Zinfandel” grapes were in season.
Dad would go to Chicago and get his grapes by rail and/or his own truck. The wine making one was of the highlights in the fall of the year, and we all looked forward to it.
The entire winemaking process took approximately three to four weeks from crushing of the grapes to placing in fifty-five gallon wooden barrells. . .
